Mana casting uses spherecasting to cast spells. While not all worlds use it, this is the most common form of spellcasting in the universes beyond. The basic concept is the use of mana. Mana originates from the space between worlds. Its raw energy is difficult, if not impossible to harness by any but the most powerful creatures in the multiverse. However, once it travels into a world it fuses with the land and it gains special properties depending on the type of terrain and features of the land. Mana casters specialize in certain types of mana, gaining bonuses, but also greatly restricting their options. Each mana caster chooses a single color among white, blue, black, red, or green. They gain the associated casting tradition. It is possible for a character to gain access to other colors as they gain more power and knowledge. It is even common for powerful mages to dabble in two or even three colors, with the most powerful mages gaining access to four or even all five colors.

Mana Casting

When deciding to be a mana caster the most important choice is what color to start with. This color decides what spheres and talents the caster can take. Upon choosing the color, the caster then gains the associated casting tradition, gaining all drawbacks and boon associated with it. If a caster has multiple colors, they gain all casting traditions for each color. However, only one tradition will be used while casting. This tradition must be one that can use the sphere affect being cast.

Mana and Fate

The Fate sphere is designed to work within the typical alignment system. However, mana casters work within the mana system. When a fate talent requires you to choose an opposing alignment, you must choose a color instead. This color is determined by which color or colors you have access to. Each mana page discusses more which colors they may choose.
